A sanitation worker in his 50s was run over and killed early Monday morning by a garbage truck near the Paz bridge in Haifa.

The accident occurred when the truck backed up and the driver did not notice the employee behind him. A team of Magen David Adom paramedics pronounced the employee dead. The police detained the truck driver for questioning.
