NATO and Afghan forces killed what they believed to be a top Al Qaeda operative in Afghanistan early Sunday. The man was said to be a former detainee at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, and was accused of helping Osama Bin-Laden escape Afghanistan after the fall of the Taliban.

According to reports, the operative was planning several terrorist attacks in Afghanistan.
