There were disturbances at the Gordon elementary school in Petach Tikva, Friday morning, after parents, led by City Councilman Genadi Broshavski, forced their children into the school although the Education Ministry and the Petach Tikva municipality did not approve the registration of the children. A city official told Arutz Sheva that parents also forced their children into the school on Thursday.
The official said that the parents tried to register the students although they did not live within the attendance boundaries of the school. She added that the Elementary Education Branch had informed the parents of the schools their children were assigned to at the time they informed the parents of the rejection of the applications, and the disturbances broke out when they repeated those words on the school grounds, Friday morning. Police were able to control the situation to a certain extent but parents were able to keep the outside students in the classrooms. The official said she was among a number of officials locked in the principal's office for fear of the crowd outside.
