Member of Knesset Danny Danon (Likud) called on Secretary of State Hillary Clinton of the United States, Thursday, to declare Turkey a state sponsor of terrorism. In a letter to Clinton, Danon wrote, "Turkey has drawn close to Iran and represents a direct extension of the axis of evil. The administration in Washington must respond to the Turkish problem because soon it will be too late."

Responding to Turkey's threat of sanctions against Israel if it doesn't apologize for last years interception of the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara as it tried to break the Gaza naval blockade, Danon called for economic and diplomatic sanctions against the government in Ankara until it changes its path away from terror. He also called on Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman to summon Turkey's ambassador to promote a Turkish apology over the incident.
