The Jerusalem Post has fired long-time far-left columnist Larry Derfner over a blog post justifying terrorism. “Whoever the Palestinians were who killed the eight Israelis near Eilat last week, however vile the ideology was, they were justified to attack,” Derfner wrote on his personal blog, in a post that was later deleted.
Derfner went on to say that “Palestinians have the right to use terrorism against us,” although he added that personally he “would do whatever was necessary to stop a Palestinian... from killing one of my countrymen.”
Derfner later apologized and said he meant to say that Israel provokes terrorism, but not that terrorism is justified. He was fired anyway, according to a post on his blog, after hundreds of readers threatened to cancel their subscriptions.
