French President Nicholas Sarkozy sent a letter, Sunday, to the family of abducted soldier Gilad Shalit, on the occasion of Shalit's 25th birthday.

Sarkozy wrote, "France does not forget you. Quite the opposite: We are especially close to you on this sad birthday, which your abductors prevent from experiencing as a free person, in the company of the people who love you."
