A protest march is scheduled for Friday afternoon between the Levinksi and Rothschild Boulevard tent cities in Tel Aviv in response to the decision by the Trajtenberg Committee on social issues not to hold a hearing on public transportation. The march is being organized by the Megama Yeroka (Green Trend) and other social protest groups. Members of Knesset were expected to join protest leaders in the march.
Coordinator Gadi Kolker of Megama Yeroka's chapter at the Hadassah College in Jerusalem said it was impossible to talk about social justice without talking about public transportation, explaining, "The solution of moving to peripheral areas cannot be proposed without efficient public transportation. Promotion and accessibility of public transportation is a necessary step in solving problems in the social, economic and environmental fields."
