Russia and Syria have decided to boycott discussions in the United Nations Security Council about sanctions against Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad and senior members of his government because of the violent suppression of dissent in Israel's northern neighbor, according to a Friday morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio.

Russia has expressed its opposition to sanctions on a number of occasions.
