Egypt announced, on Monday, that it intends to develop the Sinai peninsula after it was criticized for losing control in the area, which is what allowed terrorists to infiltrate Israel last week, leading to the deaths of Israelis and Egyptians, according to a Tuesday morning report by Kol Yisrael government radio.
The cabinet in Cairo approved establishment of a Supreme Sinai Development Authority, which is intended to encourage development and improve security in the area, among other things. The authority will receive a special budget for initiatives to develop the region.
