The Chinese Chief-of-Staff, Chen Bingde visted at the Western Wall Monday afternoon with his entourage of senior Chinese army officers. Bingde placed a prayer note among the stones of the wall.
Speaking with the Rabbi of the Kotel and the Holy Sites Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Chen Bingde mentioned the long lasting friendship between Israel and China. Bingde also mentioned that the Mir Yeshiva was hosted in Shanghai during WWII.”This yeshiva operates in Jerusalem today, and is another bridge between Israel and China,” he said.
