Most of the indices on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange posted sharp gains on Sunday. The TA composite index rose 3.23 percent to 975.03, slightly better than the TA 100, which closed at 989.15, up 3.18 percent, and the Maof 25 most-widely-invested issues, which finished the first trading day of the week at 1,098.18, up 2.77 percent. Trading was delayed because of pre-bell buying, as compared to last week, when global uncertainty prompted pre-bell selling
Leading the way were the oil and natural gas stocks, which jumped 6.55 percent to 1,029.34, followed by the biomed issues, which closed at 661.44, up 4.16 percent. The other technology stocks finished the day at 252.34, up 3.68 percent. The real estate index rose 3.74 percent to 265.71 and the financial institutions finished the day at 956.94, up 2.04 percent. The media and communications stocks closed at 834.43, up 2.62 percent.
