The Hamas website reported on Sunday that the British group Long Live Palestine has called on people around the world to take part in a convoy of medical aid to break Israel's blockade on Gaza, starting December 27th. Organizers are shooting for the biggest convoy of aid yet, which will be characterized by heavy Egyptian involvement. They explained that the prevailing atmosphere of democracy in Egypt serves an important role in bringing the blockade to an end.
Organizers say the partial opening of the Rafah crossing did not improve the condition of Gaza residents under "the opressive and inhumane siege", even though Gazans are doing well enough to be asked to send aid to Somalia. The website called for Egypt to open the crossing to commercial traffic.
