Meitar Petitions High Court Against Housing Bid

The community of Meitar, north of Be'er Sheva', petitioned the Supreme Court, Thursday, to issue a temporary restraining order against Sunday's scheduled publication of a bid for 203 lots by the Israel Lands Administration (ILA). Meitar is protesting the fact that the bid was not coordinated with the community and in opposition to the community's known opposition to the lots being sold without the appropriate infrastructure, including schools and public services.

The court has ordered the ILA to respond by Sunday, and given it 30 days to explain why it is marketing the land in spite of Meitar's opposition.
