Syrian forces continued to kill citizens on Wednesday despite mounting international pressure on President Bashar Assad. Sixteen were reported dead in the city of Homs.
United States President Barack Obama warned Wednesday that his country would hit Assad with sanctions, and stated that Syria will be better off with Assad out of power. Turkey, which has enjoyed warm ties with Syria in recent years, has called on Assad to end the violence and institute reforms; several Arab nations made similar statements earlier in the week.
