Relatives of four men detained in Yitzhar said the Shin Bet's behavior in a brief investigation Wednesday proves that there is “no evidence” in the case against their loved ones.

The Shin Bet arrested Oriya Cohen and later released him. Agents allegedly told Cohen that he was suspected of setting Arab-owned cars on fire due to his presence at the Tapuach junction shortly after an arson attack. Cohen said the agents also told him that four other men from Yitzhar who were detained had been arrested on trumped-up charges.

“For four months they've been investigating the arson, and all they discovered is that two people were driving through the Tapuach junction?” relatives of the other four men asked. “We suggest that the head of the Shin Bet's Jewish division teach his people geography, then they will find that the way from Yitzhar to the town where the arson allegedly took place does not go through the Tapuach Junction at all.”
