The Palestinian Authority is considering delaying its unilateral bid for United Nations recognition as an independent state, according to a Wednesday report by the PA's Quds Net website. The report says the PA is concerned that the United States will sever some of its connections and stop its aid to the PA treasury.
The U.S. has tried to dissuade the PA from its statehood bid during comprehensive talks in recent weeks. The bid could escalate tensions in the region and cancel parts of the Oslo Accords between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization, to which the U.S. is a signatory. Those parts include a ban on unilateral actions.
