Britain is gearing up for another night of riots by sending 16,000 officers to patrol London, compared with 6,000 the night before. More than 525 people have been arrested, and police issued a warning Tuesday that they plan to apprehend many more, including some whose faces were caught on camera as they looted stores.
In addition to looting, rioters have caused heavy property damage, and have set many cars and buildings on fire. The riots have spread from the capital, sparking copycat violence and destruction in Birmingham, Bristol and Liverpool.
