Bahrain Recalls Ambassador to Syria

Bahrain announced Monday night that it was recalling its ambassador to Syria. Officials said that the Bahraini government had made the decision because of the ongoing persecution of Syrian civilians by soldiers loyal to dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Earlier, Kuwait said that it was bringing home its ambassador to Syria for “consultations.” No reason was given for the recall, but it is assumed to be in protest over the violence by Syrian soldiers against protesters demanding the resignation of dictator Bashar al-Assad.
