Arab NII Worker Took Bribes for 'Favors'

A Rishon Lezion court allowed publication of an arrest they had made several weeks ago of an Arab National Insurance Institute (Bituach Leumi) worker in Jerusalem who was accused of accepting bribes. According to police, the man, a senior official in the organization, along with two other suspects, had provided “special service” for clients with problems who provided them with a bribe. Among the actions he took for clients – who paid him tens of thousands of shekels – was ensuring that they could receive various grants and pensions, usually provided to the ill or elderly.

The court allowed the publication of some of the details, but other information – possibly relating to security issues – was kept under wraps.
