Kuwait Recalls Ambassador to Syria

Kuwait said Monday that it was bringing home its ambassador to Syria. Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Mohammed al-Salem al-Sabah said that he had recalled his ambassador for “consultations.” No reason was given for the recall, but it is assumed to be in protest over the violence by Syrian soldiers against protesters demanding the resignation of dictator Bashar al-Assad.

Al-Sabah said that members of the Gulf Cooperation Council would meet in the coming days to discuss the situation in Syria.
