Hundreds of Dairy Farmers Protesting

Hundreds of dairy farmers were protesting Sunday against the government's possible acceptance of a report that suggests opening the dairy market in Israel to foreign competition. The protests were taking place at 10 major intersections throughout the country. The dairy farmers say that they are already barely eking out a living, and that the government should take action against the middlemen, distributors, and supermarket chains, who are the ones making most of the money.

On Saturday night, Yisrael Beiteinu officials said that they would oppose a decision made by Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz to allow importation of foreign-produced cheeses.
