Yisrael Beiteinu & Atzmaut May Keep Foreign Cheeses Out

Yisrael Beiteinu's announcement on Saturday night that its ministers would oppose a decision by Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz (Likud) to begin imports of dairy products could defeat the proposal in Sunday's cabinet meeting.

Tourism Minister Stas Misezhnikov warned that the proposal would cause hundreds of farms to go out of business.

The ministers of Defense Minister Ehud Barak's new Atzmaut Party also oppose the proposal, which is strongly supported by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu.
