Resident Resignations Begin

About 140 letters of resignation were submitted, Thursday, by resident doctors at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, east of Tel Aviv. Similar letters are expected to be submitted to other hospitals around the country, and will take effect in 30 days.

The action follows a vote by more than 70 percent of the interns, who are dissatisfied with a tentative agreement between the Israel Medical Federation and the government regarding the number and length of tours of duty to be performed by interns every month. A number of specialists are gathering signatures to take a similar action.
