Report: Israel Investigating Monday Deaths at Kalandia

Israeli military police began, on Wednesday, to investigate the shooting deaths of two Arabs during violence at the Kalandia crossing, between Jerusalem and Ramallah on Monday, according to the Palestine Telegraph website, which says a preliminary probe shows that soldiers who opened fire on rioters had not been trained to deal with arrests or demonstrations. Rioting broke out when Israeli troops arrested wanted terror suspects in Kalandia. Five soldiers were injured in the violence.

The European Union and the United Nations called on Israel to investigate the deaths on Wednesday.
