Galei Tzahal radio reports that Finance Minister Yuval Shteinitz has offered the position of treasury director to Eli Cohen, previously the treasury official in charge of wages. Cohen, a senior bank HaPoalim employee, will probably refuse the appointment.
Treasury director Chaim Shani resigned earlier this week, in protest over the government’s financial decision-making process.
