Jerusalem Mayor Nir Barkat and Haj Rajai Yihia Sanduka closed the third day of the Arab Ramadan fast with the traditional firing of the Ramadan Cannon at precisely 19:41 at the Moslem graveyard on Saladin street.
Sanduka’s family is responsible for the firing of the cannon during the month of Ramadan and during the following Festival of the Offering, Id al-Fitr. The family has fired the cannon since the Ottoman empire period, some 120 years ago.
