More than 20 feminist groups sent a letter to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu on Tuesday demanding that a group being formed to meet with leaders of a protest to lower the cost of living include female representatives. “Women are clearly the primary sufferers when it comes to the socio-economic problems facing the Israeli public, therefore, it is essential to include a variety of women in the government negotiating team immediately,” the letter argued.
Netanyahu's spokespeople said in response that the prime minister had already selected two female candidates for the committee. The women were selected primarily due to their expertise, but also in order to ensure female representation, they said.
