Three men have been arrested on suspicion of abusing their wives and children, all under the auspices of a polygamous sect. “This is one of the more shocking cases I have seen,” said Welfare Minister Moshe Kachlon.
The sect was revealed after a woman went to Welfare Ministry officials in Jerusalem and told them about the severe physical and mental abuse she and her co-wives and their children were suffering. The women and children are now in shelters and are being given psychological care.
