The World Mizrachi and Yavneh movements have scheduled a flotilla in support of Israel and the Israel Defense Forces on Sunday, August 14th. Interviewed on Arutz Sheva's Hebrew journal, Deputy Executive Director Ilan Roth of World Mizrachi said the event is in response to the anti-Israeli flotillas of the last year or so. He added that the cruise between Ashkelon and Ashdod will bring together youth from different groups around the world.
Roth noted that Ashkelon is the closest port to the place where abducted soldier Gilad Shalit is being held. He added that despite the anti-Israeli flotilla's stated intent to break the Gaza naval blockade, the only one under blockade is Shalit. A Young Israel group will be boarding a boat named after Jonathan Pollard, who is serving a life sentence for passing classified information from the United States to Israel. The flotilla will be followed by a march and a concert.
