Syrian tanks stormed the town of Zabadani near the border with Lebanon on Monday after Ramadan evening prayers, residents told the Reuters news agency.
Witnesses said more than 20 tanks and armored personnel carriers entered the resort town in after residents held a street demonstration in support of the central city of Hama. At least three protesters in Zabadani were injured by machine-gun fire from the tanks.
It was also reported that Syrian police killed at least six civilians in an assault on the eastern Damascus suburb of Erbin.
A resident told Reuters, “Security cars and pick-up trucks with machine-guns mounted on their beds entered Erbin around midnight and assembled at the main roundabout before branching out in the streets and firing at neighborhoods.”
