Asher Dahan, accused of killing Rabbi Elazar Abuchatzeira, was sent for a psychiatric evaluation on Monday night. He has been held in an Ashkeklon prison in solitary confinement, under heavy guard, since he was arrested Thursday night.
Dahan's attorney said that his family is “in shock and in pain” over the killing. “They don't know what happened that day, but they do know he has been depressed for a long time. That was the reason he asked for the rabbi's advice,” the attorney said.
