Bishara Working with Syrian Opposition

A conference of Syrian opposition groups is taking place in Qatar, The conference is being organized by The Arab Center for Political Research, managed by former Knesset member Azmi Bishara, who has been a fugitive from Israel after being suspected of making contacts with the enemy during the Second Lebanon War of 2006.

Bishara is receiving the support of the regime of President Bashar Al-Assad. Bishara noted, at the conference, that while change is necessary, he ruled out the army joining anti-government forces, as happened in Tunisia and Egypt. He also discounted scenarios similar to those in Libya and Iraq.
