Cabinet Approves Compensation for Disengagement Victims

The cabinet approved, on Sunday, a 300-million-shekel agreement that ends the claims for compensation by Jews evicted by the government from Gaza and Northern Samaria in 2005. A statement from the Prime Minister's Office said all community representatives, business owners and farmers in Gush Katif have signed the agreement, which will allow for the completion of the evacuees' moves to permanent communities.

The government also approved compensation to re-establish synagogues that were uprooted.  Also approved was the closing of the Tenufa Administration, which dealt with compensating the evictees, in mid-2013 and the transfer of its responsibilities to the relevant ministries.
