Mubarak Trial to Be Televised

The trial of Hosni Mubarak will be broadcast on national television, the government-controlled Al-Ahram newspaper said Sunday. The trial will focus on Mubarak's handling of protests in A-Tahrir Square in Cairo – in which he is accused of causing the deaths of hundreds – as well as on corruption charges for his alleged theft of billions from the Egyptian treasury.

It is not clear if Mubarak himself will be in attendance at the trial, as he has been bedridden in a Sharm el-Sheikh hospital for months, suffering from heart-related complications. Mubarak is also said to be very depressed, often refusing to eat.
