The Knesset Interior and Environmental Protection Committee approved, on Thursday, an order granting a mutual visa exemption on 3-month non-employment tourist travel between Israel and the Central American country of Belize. It is hoped that the exemption will make things easier for Israeli backpackers travelling in the Western Hemisphere.
The former British Honduras is home to about 320,000 people. During the committee meeting, Foreign Ministry representatives noted that it is a friendly country holding diplomatic relations with Israel. They also noted that 75 tourists have come to Israel from Belize since 2005.
