President Shimon Peres on Thursday expressed his support for the doctors' strike. Peres on Thursday called Dr. Leonid Idelman and asked him “to take care of himself,” as he along with other doctors are on a hunger strike.
Peres said that “the whole country is watching you. You have proven your leadership and courage, and you carry on your shoulders a message about the improvement of public health in Israel. As President, I ask you to watch your health, as you are valuable to us,” Idelman said, adding that he suggested that doctors conduct negotiations with the Treasury and make an extra effort to end the strike.
