Steinitz to Negotiate With Eini

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has appointed Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz to negotiate with Histadrut chairman Ofer Eini, in what might amount to a “package deal” that would take into consideration many of the complaints of protesters – high housing costs, high living costs, high food prices, etc.

Speaking Thursday, Steinitz said that “until now, cooperation between Eini and I has brought growth to the Israeli economy. I am very happy to discuss these matters with him.” On Wednesday, Eini said that the Histadrut would get involved in the protest movement sweeping Israel, and that if substantial progress was not made immediately on matters, he would call a nationwide strike of all Histadrut workers – as soon as Saturday night.
