S. Sudan Admitted to African Union

South Sudan was admitted Thursday to the African Union as a full member. As a result, both Sudan and South Sudan will be required to submit to AU-sponsored negotiations on a long list of disputes between the two countries. Earlier this month, the UN General Assembly admitted South Sudan as the 193rd member state of the UN.

A report Wednesday said that Sudan army troops had raided a village in South Sudan, near the northern border. Sudan denied the reports.
