Knesset Honors Warsaw Ghetto Fighters

The Knesset honored the heroes of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising on Tuesday.

The move, which was initiated by Member of Knesset Uri Orbach (Habayit Hayehudi), was the first time Israel's parliament has officially honored those who, despite their severe lack of food and weapons, carried out the largest Jewish uprising during the Holocaust.

The revolt, which began on January 18, 1943, attempted to prevent the Nazis from transporting the ghetto population to the Treblinka extermination camp.
