U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland denied on Monday that the United States had any involvement in the death of the Iranian nuclear scientist in Tehran over the weekend.
Nuland said that Iran “regularly accuses the West in such cases and we hope that it is not going to use this incident to divert attention from fulfilling its international obligations.”
Nuland added that her country has no knowledge of any Israeli involvement in the scientist’s death.
