The Israel Electric Company recorded an all-time high demand for power Monday. Total demand was 10,880 megawatts, with nearly all of it supplied by the IEC. That figure accounted for 95% of the IEC's capacity.
The IEC thanked the public for its awareness of the need to save energy on especially hot days, such as Monday, when temperatures approached the mid and upper 30 degrees celsius (over 100 degrees fahrenheit) throughout the country. The IEC reiterated that customers should not use appliances requiring relatively large amounts of electricity, such as washers and dryers, until the evening hours.
