Customs agents at Ben Gurion Airport seized over 100 rare eggs that a passenger was attempting to smuggle into Israel. The incident occurred late Sunday night. A 70 year old resident of Kiryat Shmona attempted to pass through customs with nothing to declare. He aroused the suspicions of agents who demanded that he pass his luggage through a scanner, and they discovered that he had in his bag over 100 eggs of rare birds.
Agricultural inspectors seized the eggs and arrested the man. The eggs, whose source is not known, are to be destroyed. The man was apparently planning to hatch the eggs and sell the rare birds.
