In a press conference Monday, Jordan Valley Brigade Commander Nahum Mendel said that his soldiers had succeeded in preventing the smuggling of weapons via the Dead Sea. Mendel said that two terrorists were caught Monday morning catting 10 Kalachnikov guns. Intelligence officers had already marked them as suspicious, and observed them as they set sail from the Israeli side of the Dead Sea to the Jordanian side, where they collected the weapons, to be used in a terror attack. They were arrested when they came back to the Israeli side.
Mendel said that the method the terrorists used to collect the weapons was “unusual.” The two terrorists are residents of Bethlehem. They were being questioned by security officials.
