Dairy Farmers to Demonstrate Monday Against Price Hikes

Dairy and other farmers from across the country are expected to gather Monday in protest of recent increases in the price of milk. Demonstrations are scheduled for the Kaplan-Begin Way intersection, next to the Azrieli Center and across from the government campus in Tel Aviv, Sa'ad Junction near Gaza and the Machanayim Junction in the north.

The farmers claim that the price of raw milk is the only factor in the price of milk that is under government control and not connected to the overall price hike, explaining that the price goes up 50 percent after it leaves the dairy. They also said that farmers on the confrontation line with hostile Arabs and those in peripheral areas were not part of the exploitation of consumers and are not going to pay for "the piggery of the tycoons".
