Hagai Elad, director of the Association for Civil Rights in Israel, responded on Wednesday to the vote in the Knesset not to establish inquiry committees into NGOs, saying, “The vote is another low point for democracy in Israel.
“The political struggle between the Likud and Yisrael Beiteinu,” continued Elad, “has an unbearable toll on the most elementary rules of the conduct of a democracy, and it should be clear that the Knesset does not investigate or violate the legitimate activities of civil organizations of all positions.”
