Spectators shouted down former IDF Chief of Staff Dan Halutz Monday night at an official state ceremony in memory of IDF soldiers killed in the 2006 Lebanon war. The ceremony, held at Mt. Herzl, was marred by catcalls from parents of soldiers who fell in battle criticizing Halutz for his performance during the war.
One of the parents, Yoav Tsur, called for Halutz to step down from the podium as he was about to speak. Audience members shouted at Tsur, telling him that his behavior was disrespectful. In response, he said that “it was disrespectful for Halutz to come to the ceremony.”
