Five Israeli students won five medals at the Physics Olympics, which concluded Monday in Bangkok. The two gold medal winners were Asaf Rosen of Motta Gur High School in Modi'in and Gal Dor of Echad Ha'am High School in Petach Tikva. The two silver medalists were Ben Feinstein of Rabin High School in Modi'in and Gur Perry of Rabin High School in Mazkeret Batya. The bronze winner was Aviv Frenkel of Ort Yad Leibowitz in Netanya.
Israel ranked 13th among the 84 countries taking part in the competition. Last year's ranking was 17th out of 82. The manager of the Science and Technology Administration in the Education Ministry credited the Ministry's promotion of the fields as a reason for the achievements.
