Petition Against Labor "Double Registrations"

Amram Mitzna' and Shelly Yechimovich, who are running to lead the Labor party, filed petitions Sunday afternoon with the Institution to Monitor the Integrity of Elections and the Labor party's supervisor, demanding to prevent the mass certification of 5,000 people who are registered in the Likud or Kadima parties as Labor voters.

The petitions demanded that the Parties Law and the Central Elections Committee be followed so that each individual appeal be discussed on its merits and use not be made of the appeals forms sent to those whose registrations were invalidated. Yechimovich said, "You cannot bleach a violation of the law clean with a mass certification ceremony. It's our duty, as candidates, to be sure of a legal, clean and authentic registration, and to observe the law and the democratic rules of the Labor party."
