The Sunday agenda of the Ministerial Committee on Legislation includes a bill by Member of Knesset Einat Wilf (Ha'atzma'ut) to speed up the transition to digital textbooks for public school students. The bill would require the producer of a hard-copy text to produce an identical digital text.
While parents have complained about being forced to acquire computers for their children to learn with, Dr. Wilf says the bill leaves the option of traditional paper books to the parents, although she says the majority of parents will prefere digital in a few years. In addition, digital books can be adapted to special education needs, such as translation to Braille.
