Firefighters gained control, Friday morning, over a forest fire that burned 10,000 dunam (2,500 acres) of the Ein Tina and Nachal Jilbon nature reserves in the Golan Heights. The blaze broke out in the Ein Tina reserve Thursday afternoon before spreading to Nachal Jilbon. With five ground crews and four airplanes operating at the scene, authorities hoped that it would be put out completely soon.

Extinguishing of the fire will allow investigators to try to determine the cause of the fire. Highway 91 was re-opened to traffic but Nachal Jilbon was blocked. Fires were reported around Israel and authorities expect more on Friday. They ask the public to be careful with fire, given the hot and dry conditions in most places.
